2025 Pressure Mapping
Research Study

The Kalogon team will be traveling across the U.S. holding a series of pressure mapping research events.

 

The purpose of this research is to work with people with lived wheelchair experience to explore how well Kalogon’s products and future products service them, thus allowing Kalogon to ensure our products meet the needs of a wide group of wheelchair users.

What happens at these events?

 

You will spend about 1 - 2 hours with our team  to:

  • Do a recorded interview with our team to learn about your wheelchair and wheelchair cushion usage, your life, and your history of pressure injuries

  • Be pressure mapped on your existing cushion

  • Be pressure mapped either on a current Kalogon wheelchair cushion or on a Kalogon prototype cushion

What do I receive for participating?

  • A pressure map of your current wheelchair cushion

  • $100 in cash

What are the requirements for participation?

In order to participate, you must meet the following requirements: 

  • Currently use a wheelchair 

  • Use some sort of wheelchair cushion sized 16x16, 18x18, or 20x20  OR be able to accommodate one of these sizes in your chair

  • Not have any current pressure injuries Stage 2 or higher

  • Able to communicate feedback in some fashion

  • Ability to transfer in your normal fashion 3 - 4 times during session

  • Age 18 or older 

  • Be under 300 pounds

  • Able to give consent 

  • Understand and communicate in English

  • Willing to have photograph, audio, and video recorded of session

How do I sign up for this?


Schedule a call to confirm your eligibility by:

  • Booking time with the Kalogon Primary Investigator at LINK

  • Speaking with the research team at an event in person


If you are eligible and the Primary Investigator is able to confirm this,  you will be asked to review, discuss, and sign a consent form.​

This research is being conducted under Institutional Review Board (IRB) oversight. Funding for this research comes in part from a Phase II SBIR Grant from National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research.
