FAQ FAQ Pressure Injuries Orbiter Kalogon the Company Press and Marketing Booster Orbiter Med More Orbiter How does Orbiter work? Kalogon uses patent-pending air cell technology to analyze pressure data in real-time and intelligently adapt to deliver comfort on demand. The Orbiter from Kalogon redistributes support away from sensitive areas, facilitating maximum comfort. The cushion senses how the user is sitting and algorithms intelligently adapt to offload pressure from their buttocks and thighs, aims to increase comfort in maintaining healthy blood flow and keep their skin healthy. Our cushion does the shifting for people. Users and caregivers can use a companion app to personalize their experience to support pressure injury healing and pain relief. Do you have to have a phone to use Orbiter? The phone will help to optimize and change settings as needed. It does not need to be used frequently - many people only use our smartphone app for initial setup and do not open it again after that. You really only need the phone for initial setup, and many of our users don't open the app again after that. All of the settings are saved locally on the cushion's control unit, so it will preserve your setup even with no phone near the cushion. The app connects over bluetooth, so it can be used even in locations with poor/no wifi. You can also control multiple cushions from one phone. Does the Orbiter app work on both Android and iOS? Yes! The Orbiter app is available in both the Play and the iOS stores . You can sync with Orbiter once you’ve got the app installed. Can I pick the color of fabric for my Orbiter? Orbiter is currently available in either black with a stripe in Orbiter blue or in an all black version. You can select your preferred color combination when ordering. Is Orbiter from Kalogon available from local medical supply stores? Please contact our team to learn more either by calling 321-465-4504 to speak with a member of our team or by filling out the contact form . From there, our team will be happy to connect you with the right local representative or dealer. Does Kalogon have a toll-free number to call if I have questions? Yes, please call 321-465-4504 to speak with a member of our team. Can we use the Orbiter for the car or any other furniture other than a wheelchair? Yes! We have many people who use the Orbiter while driving or sitting someplace other than their wheelchair - after consulting with their clinician about their seating and positioning. Where can I use Orbiter? You can use Orbiter anyplace you go in your wheelchair. Orbiter adjusts for ambient conditions so you can use it on an airplane, in the car, or even just around town. People use Orbiter at work, on the go, or socializing. How do you adjust Orbiter? How can I adjust the Orbiter to meet my positioning needs? Orbiter automatically adjusts itself to you based on its smart technology that detects the unique way that you sit. You or your clinician can also customize the profile of the cushion using the app and adjust the firmness of the different sections of the cushion. You can use the app to adjust the pressure settings in each of the 5 zones of the cushion individually. This allows you to selectively relieve pressure from high risk areas and to accommodate unique positioning needs such as obliquities. We recommend that you speak with your clinician about the pressure settings that are right for you. How much weight does Orbiter add to a wheelchair? The average Orbiter, mount, and control box are about four - six pounds in weight. This depends on the size of the cushion, which is custom to each person. Please contact our sales team to learn more either by calling 321-465-4504 to speak with a member of our team or by filling out the contact form . What sizes is Orbiter available in? Our team will be happy to connect you with the right local representative or dealer once they understand your needs. What is the fabric used for Orbiter’s cover? Please wash in cold water and air dry. Do not put your Orbiter cushion cover into the dryer. How do I wash my Orbiter cover? You can wash your Orbiter cushion cover in a machine with cold water and air dry it. Do not put it into the dryer, even on a low heat. What is a preset and how can I use them? When you use the Kalogon app in partnership with your Orbiter, you can create a preset. Presets allow you to specify what level of pressure your clinician recommends for various situations and can be saved for ongoing use. You can label these in the app so you know what situation each preset is designed for. When you use the Kalogon app in partnership with your Orbiter, you can create up to 10 presets. Some people create presets to address different situations such as switching the cushion for different wheelchairs, between a wheelchair and driver’s seat, and between a wheelchair and a recliner. Some have even gone so far as to create settings for eating, or for different pairs of shoes. Once you have chatted with your clinician about these presets, you can save these in the app and just adjust to those at any point. What is the weight the cushion can handle? The standard cushion can handle up to 350 pounds. For larger weights, please contact the Kalogon team who can discuss various options for your needs. Can I get a demo? Kalogon performs in-services and demonstrations for clinical teams. To request one, please contact Kalogon and we’ll follow up with you to schedule a time. We are excited to share more information about how to live a more active, seated life. Hear about new research by signing up for our newsletter. Unveiling the Landscape of Pressure Injuries: Insights from Kalogon’s Inaugural Seating and Sitting Survey February 202 4 Pressure injuries pose a devastating threat, affecting the lives of 2.5 million people per year with around 60,000 deaths annually within the United States alone. Pressure injuries manifest as localized skin injuries in areas subjected to prolonged pressure, typically occurring over bony prominences. The findings in this survey underscore the critical importance of understanding and addressing PIs, a leading cause of preventable death. Covered topics: Inaugural Seating & Sitting Survey The Impact of Pressure Injuries Pressure Injury Stages & Vulnerable Areas Demographic Insights Discomfort & Sensations of Prolonged Sitting Understanding Diverse Seating Needs Open the insights or read more below A common assumption is that PIs apply solely to individuals who use a wheelchair. The U.S population consists of a diverse array of individuals, each with their own unique needs and varying levels of mobility. A total of 166 respondents in the US Rep population reported that they have a disability that requires them to sit for extended periods of time. Among this population, respondents reported utilizing a diverse range of assistive devices. A significant number of these individuals were discovered to not use any assistive device. This underscores that the absence of an assistive device does not always mean an absence of extended sitting, putting individuals at risk for pressure injury. Among the 132 respondents who experience PIs, a notable percentage reported feelings of stiffness, soreness, and numbness. A significant proportion of the 913 respondents who haven’t experienced a pressure injury selected “stiffness” as a sensation they experience. Along with detailing the sensations experienced by individuals with PIs, this data was cross-referenced with the specific locations on the body where these sensations occur. The majority or individuals, regardless of whether or not they have experienced a pressure injury, share common experience: discomfort after sitting for extended periods of time. A staggering amount of individuals reported sensation in the back and legs. At some point in their life, the average U.S citizen will inevitably feel uncomfortable when required to sit for any reason. Pressure injuries progress through a series of stages, with a relatively equal distribution of these stages observed among our respondents. Approximately half of respondents (49%) reported experiencing a pressure injury from stages 2 to 3. The findings of this survey reveal a significant increase in individuals with pressure injuries within the age ranges of 25-34 & 35-44, aligning with previous studies outlining PI risk factors. The prevalence of pressure injuries among this young demographic may be the result of a higher prioritization of routine check-ins with primary care providers compared to older generations. • Booster FAQs | Kalogon

FAQ FAQ Pressure Injuries Orbiter Kalogon the Company Press and Marketing Booster Orbiter Med More Booster FAQs What is Booster? Booster is designed to reduce anxiety of using your existing air cushion, it can be installed onto most full-sized single cell air flotation wheelchair cushions. Booster is a device that attaches to your existing cushion. It maintains your clinician’s recommendation for pressure in an air flotation cushion and eliminates the need to manually adjust it. What is the technology behind Booster? Booster uses some of the same technology that powers Orbiter, namely Kalogon’s state of the art air management system, allowing Booster to assess air levels in real time, take into account ambient factors, and adjust as needed. Does Booster need power? Booster is charged using a provided USB cable and wall plug. It should take a few hours to get a complete charge. How does Booster attach to my cushion? Booster comes with an air hose that attaches to your cushion via the inflation valve. The hose must completely cover the air valve. Booster includes a clip which can be used to attach the device to your cushion’s cover or to the body of your wheelchair. Some cushion brands also have a pouch where Booster fits nicely. Can I cut the hose Booster uses to attach to my cushion? Yes, you can trim the hose to work with your cushion. Are replacement hoses available? Replacement hoses are available for purchase. If you need one, please contact the Kalogon team at contact@kalogon.com or (321) 465 4504 . Can Kalogon recommend what my air levels should be set at? Kalogon cannot provide recommendations for what your air levels should be in your cushion. Please consult your clinician and work with them either in the Kalogon app or in clinician mode to set the cushion to your needs. Booster arrives with default factory settings which are NOT clinical recommendations. How soon does Booster begin inflating when there is a change in ambient conditions? You may notice that it takes up to a few minutes for Booster to adjust after a change. How will Booster let me know that there is a potential leak? Booster will provide audio cues as well as blinking lights when it senses a potential leak, if it senses that the hose is not properly connected to the cushion’s inflation valve, or if it senses that the inflation valve is closed. What do the lights on Booster mean? There are three lights on Booster, red, yellow, and green. Please see the user instruction manual for more detail. Red is an error light and provides notifications when you should check for leaks or when there may be a kinked hose or closed valve. Yellow is the battery status light which indicates when the battery is charging or when the device is low on power. The green light is on when the device is in operation, detects that an individual is sitting on the cushion, and is maintaining the pressure level. What cushions is Booster compatible with? Booster is compatible with single cell air cushions. If you have questions about your specific cushion, please contact the Kalogon team at contact@kalogon.com or (321) 465 4504 . Do I need a phone to use Booster? Booster works best with the Kalogon app, as it provides visual information. Booster also has a manual mode that allows for manipulation of the pressure setpoint without a phone. The Kalogon smartphone app is used primarily during initial setup, and it does not need to be used every day. Once the device has been set up, it is possible to use the device without reconnecting to the app. What phones does the Booster app work with? The Kalogon app is compatible with Apple iOS 12 or later versions or Google Android OS 11 or later. Devices running earlier versions of this software may be incompatible with the Kalogon app. Does Booster replace offloads? Booster does not replace the need to do offloads or pressure shifts. You should still follow your clinician’s advice on the frequency, duration, and best practices around offloads for you. How do I clean Booster? Booster generally will not need to be cleaned. If it has been left in a hot, humid, moist, or dusty climate, the device may not perform as expected. A light blast of air should be used to remove any visible dust from the outlet tube or around the seams of the enclosure. Should you get something on the outside of Booster, you can wipe it carefully with a dry cloth, a slightly damp cloth, or wiped carefully with a 70% or less IPA alcohol-based or antibacterial cleaning wipe. How long does the battery last? The battery life will last roughly 24 - 56 hours. If Booster is making a lot of adjustments, or if a potential leak is detected and the device is filling, the battery may last less time. Can I use my FSA card to purchase a Booster? Please contact your FSA plan administrator prior to purchasing your Booster online. If you have a credit card from your FSA plan, our website will accept it, and you may still be asked to file additional information with your provider once your purchase has been completed. Do you have an instruction or user manual for Booster? Yes, you can find the Booster instruction manual online here . Simple instructions are available in the app as well. My Booster won’t work, can you help? If you’ve been using your Booster successfully, the battery may be completely empty. Charge your device. While it’s charging you’ll see a yellow blinking, which will turn to solid yellow when the device is completely charged. If you’re using Booster for the first time, the device is likely still in transit mode. Unpack it and plug it in to charge. This will also help to ensure you’re completely powered up for your first use. I can’t get Booster to enter pairing mode with the app. How do I make that work? First off, please make certain that your device is fully charged. To enter pairing mode, you must hold both buttons down for 3 seconds. Once you’ve done this, all three lights on the device will flash in a cascading pattern. This will let you know you’ve entered pairing mode. I’m using my Booster, but the green light is not on. Why is this happening? There are two main reasons why this may be happening. One, the battery may be completely empty. Charge your device. While it’s charging you’ll see a yellow blinking, which will turn to solid yellow when the device is completely charged. If the device is fully charged and the device does not detect you and turn on the green light, you will need to ensure your device is properly inflated. To do this, first ensure no one is on the cushion. Then open the app, go to the settings page (by tapping the gear icon), and select “pump from empty”. I’m using my Booster, but there is no sound. Why is this happening? There are a few reasons why this may be happening. One, the battery may be completely empty. Charge your device. While it’s charging you’ll see a yellow blinking, which will turn to solid yellow when the device is completely charged. The other thing to check is if your device and alerts are muted. There are multiple things you can do to turn the alerts back on: Wait as the mute only lasts for 30 minutes Wake the device by briefly pressing either button OR by sitting down and then press down on the Alerts button for 1 second and release You may have also set your sound level to zero in the app. Open the Kalogon app, ensure you are paired to your device, and go to the settings tab to double check the volume. I keep getting notices from my Booster that I have a leak, but I can’t find one. Can you help me troubleshoot this? You may need to check a couple things to ensure your cushion does not have a leak. One, ensure the hose is completely fitted over the whole valve. There should be no gap between the end of the hose and the valve. Please refer to the instructions.. Check your cushion for leaks according to the manufacturer’s instructions. If you still can’t determine the source of this, report this issue to your local rep, who will work with you to report it to Kalogon. I noticed that Booster keeps pumping but there is no leak alert. Can you help me troubleshoot this? Booster will do occasional pump tests, and should return to normal shortly after. If pumping continues, you may need to check a couple things to ensure your cushion does not have a leak. Check your cushion for leaks according to the manufacturer’s instructions. You may need to check a couple things to ensure your cushion does not have a leak. One, check your cushion for leaks according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Think about where you have been using Booster, if there are altitude changes or ambient weather conditions, it is possible that the device is pumping due to external changes. If you still can’t determine the source of this, report this issue to your local rep, who will work with you to report it to Kalogon. I keep getting an “airway blocked” notice with my Booster, but the hose is not kinked. Can you help me troubleshoot this? Double check all your connections and that the cushion valve is open and that the hose is completely covering the valve. Review your cushion setup and where the hose sits on the cushion to ensure it is not getting temporarily kinked, closing off the airway. If you still can’t determine the source of this, report this issue to your local rep, who will work with you to report it to Kalogon. I’m in clinician mode, and when I block the airway, there are no alerts. Is there something I should do? When in clinician mode, the device only responds to button presses and no other inputs. This allows the clinician complete control over the setup. If you need to test alerts, exit clinician mode and then test the device.
